draft letter to the family

Dear

It is with great sadness and deep humility that we, the men of the Cincinnati Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., offer our continued heartfelt condolences and prayers to your family in the loss of your ……. and our Brother, __________________.

To the entire _____ Family. There’s an open gate at the end of the road through which each must go alone, and there is a light we cannot see as our Father claims His own. Beyond the gate, your loved one finds happiness and rest, and there is comfort in the thought that a loving God knows best....Please know that our prayers and thoughts are with you and if you need anything in the future, feel free to call upon us. Know that God is with you through your tremendous loss, and all He asks is that you go to him for comfort. One of the greatest gifts that God has given your family was the joy of being in the presence of someone as strong and influential as your ….. (husband, uncle, father, etc)

As you prepare our Brother for his final journey, know that our prayers and thoughts are with you.  Please, if there is anything the Brothers of the Cincinnati Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi can do for you now or in the future feel free to call upon us.  As you consider what to do with any Kappa jewelry or other paraphernalia, we would like to suggest the following.

1)      Fraternity pins, necklaces and rings are deeply meaningful, symbolizing lifelong love and commitment to Kappa Alpha Psi. They are often buried with loved ones due to their emotional significance. This act honors the deceased and reflects Fraternity traditions in funerals.

2)      Items of clothing, shirts, hoodies, sweaters, jackets, and blazers also reflect a commitment to the Fraternity.  If you desire, the members of the Cincinnati Alumni Chapter will come by and collect it for you.  We will Pass it on to a neo or someone else who is a member of the Chapter or an Undergraduate.

3)       If it is unusable, we will cut it up or burn it before we dispose of it so it cannot be worn by anyone else.

4)      Or we will send it to IHQ for those items not wanted.

5)       If the family chooses to, they can send it directly to IHQ. Or CAC will help package and send it

As you move past this moment, please know that the Brothers of Kappa mourns with you and celebrates the extraordinary life of this remarkable man who devoted his life to achievement, honor, and commitment.  We thank God and you for allowing us to share in his walk.

Yours in The Bond,

The Brothers of the Cincinnati Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi

.
